Perhaps the most valuable ‘lesson’ a student can learn at Korowa is confidence. From their very first day at Korowa, students are encouraged, challenged and inspired to reach their full potential, wherever that may lie.
And we get results. Korowa is consistently ranked as one of the highest schools in the state for VCE results and university entry. In 2012, 66 per cent of our Year 12 students achieved an ATAR above 90, 48 per cent achieved an ATAR above 95, and nine per cent achieved an ATAR above 99. Our dux achieved a top ATAR of 99.95, and there were seven perfect subject scores among the class of 2012.
Our differentiated curriculum creates a dynamic educational environment. Here, one size does not fit all. We focus on the individual. Her talents, her interests and her aspirations.
From the very beginning, we focus on the development of the whole child, both inside the classroom and beyond, by providing a rigorous education program differentiated by the following features:
The Middle (Years 6 to 8) and Senior (Years 9 to 12) Years are a time of great opportunity and achievement at Korowa, including the following curriculum highlights:
Our technology program includes a notebook and tablet PC program from Year 6 that is supported by a structured, ongoing cybersafety program. From Year 6, the personal computer program opens up a powerful new dimension to students’ daily learning in the classroom.
Building long-term resilience and confidence in students in, outside and beyond the classroom is the key differentiator of Korowa’s approach to student welfare. We aim to give girls the confidence and strategies to recognise and deal with the ups and downs of interpersonal relationships and conflicts as they arise, whether in the classroom, in the playground or online. Ultimately, our approach to student welfare starts from day one and is based on being able to support our students to make good decisions about their safety at school and beyond.
